Step
back to a simpler time when you visit Mount Airy. We both grew up here, and it’s no coincidence that a
stroll down Main Street of Mount Airy reminds us of
the town of Mayberry on the endearing and enduringly popular ‘60s hit TV
series. You’ll be sure to relish the generous
and caring spirit that you encounter wherever you go.

| Don't miss
breakfast at Snappy Lunch, home of the
famous Pork Chop Sandwich, or if you prefer, a continental
breakfast is available at the Hampton Inn.

Stroll downtown for
a haircut at Floyd's City Barber Shop.
While on Main Street, explore days gone by with a stop at
the Museum of Regional History. A
little further north on Main Street is the Mt. Airy
Visitors Center, showcasing Emmet Forrest's collection of
Andy Griffith memorabilia. Downtown also offers a
wide variety of shopping. You're sure to find
something for everyone. Who says you have to go to
Mt. Pilot to find the good stuff? |
| Take a short drive
out Hwy. 103 and tour the NC Granite Quarry,
the largest open face granite quarry in the world.
Drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and
enjoy a picnic at tone of the scenic overlooks, followed
by a sunset which will leave you breathless. Take
care to obey the traffic laws. Mayberry's favorite
deputy is reported to have been seen in the area. |

Perhaps you'll
catch a show at the Andy Griffith Playhouse,
or host your own Andy Griffith rerun marathon with the
videos provided. Test your knowledge of the show by
playing our trivia game. Before turning in,
"set a spell" on the porch and see how stars are
supposed to look. |
